We believe the God who reveals Himself in the Bible is the only true God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, three distinct persons in one divine being (the Holy Trinity).
We believe Jesus Christ-both true God and true man-came to bring all people back to God through His life, death and resurrection. He is the only Savior from sin, death, and the devil. The good news of our salvation in Jesus Christ is called "the Gospel."
We believe the Bible is the final authority for Christian teaching and life. The Bible is called "Holy Scripture" because God the Holy Spirit gave to His chosen, human writers both the thoughts they expressed and the very words that they wrote. Therefore, the Bible is God's own Truthful Word, without error. We further believe Jesus Christ is the heart and center of the Bible and therefore the key to its true meaning.
We believe God created the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, in the image of God. This image was lost when they disobeyed God and fell into sin. Once sin entered the world, it brought guilt and condemnation to all people.
We believe all people are, by nature, spiritually dead and therefore unable by their own reason or strength to trust in Jesus Christ or come to Him. Instead, the Holy Spirit calls us by the Gospel to a life of faith under God’s Kingly Rule. God the Holy Spirit earnestly wants to convert all people and bring them to salvation. However, many reject the Word and resist the Holy Spirit and therefore remain in unbelief and under God's judgment by their own fault.
We believe the Holy Spirit works for ongoing renewal in the life of a Christian - in spirit, will, attitude, and desires - so that as followers of Christ, we now strive to overcome sin and do things that please God and serve our neighbor..
We believe there is only one church, made up of all those who trust in Christ. Because faith, which makes people members of the church, is invisible, the true church is invisible to human eyes. However, members of the invisible church are called to be faithful in a local, visible congregation. Mt. Olive is such a congregation and exists to extend God's kingdom by telling others about Jesus, by loving our neighbors, by heartfelt worship of God.
